Employment date calculator

Probation End Date Calculator

Estimate the final date in a stated probation duration without mixing it with resignation or notice-period rules.

How this calculation works

The employment start date is counted as day one. Day and week durations count consecutive calendar dates. Month durations preserve the start day where possible and use the final valid date in shorter months.

Calculation methodology

For months, the engine adds the selected number of calendar months and subtracts one day for inclusive counting. For days and weeks, it converts the duration to calendar days and counts the start date as the first day.

WorkExitPlan calculates from the rules you select. It does not guess your employer's notice policy.

Worked examples

Six-month probation

A probation starting 1 January 2026 for six months has an estimated end date of 30 June 2026.

Probation crossing a year boundary

A 20-day probation starting 20 December 2026 has an estimated end date of 8 January 2027.

Start date near month end

A one-month probation starting 31 January 2026 clamps to February before inclusive counting, giving an estimated end date of 27 February 2026.

Why the employer date may differ

  • A contract may define completion by confirmation, review or another formal action.
  • An employer may extend probation or use a different counting convention.
  • Leave, absence or local requirements may affect the actual status even when the date estimate is unchanged.
