How this calculation works
The earliest calendar joining date is the day after the last working day plus the selected number of clear break days. An optional next-working-day rule moves a weekend result forward using your chosen workweek.
Calculation methodology
When you provide a last working day, the engine adds the gap directly. When you provide a resignation date, it first calculates the last working day from the selected notice assumptions and then applies the gap.
WorkExitPlan calculates from the rules you select. It does not guess your employer's notice policy.
Worked examples
No break after a Friday
A last working day of Friday, 4 September 2026 with zero clear break days gives Saturday, 5 September as the earliest calendar joining date. Moving to the next Monday-Friday working day gives 7 September.
One-week break
A last working day of Friday, 4 September 2026 with seven clear break days gives Saturday, 12 September as the earliest joining date.
Why the employer date may differ
- The new employer may onboard only on selected weekdays.
- Your confirmed last working day may change after leave or notice adjustments.
- Background checks, documentation or employer agreement may require a later start.
