How this calculation works
The calculator chooses the notice start from your same-day or next-day setting, counts the duration, then applies any selected leave, holiday and non-working-day adjustments.
Calculation methodology
Calendar-day notice counts every date. Working-day notice counts only the selected workweek and excludes dates you enter. If the counted end falls on a non-working day, the result moves only when you choose a previous-day or next-day rule.
WorkExitPlan calculates from the rules you select. It does not guess your employer's notice policy.
Worked examples
30 days with next-day counting
A resignation on 1 September 2026 starts notice on 2 September. With 30 calendar days, the estimated last working day is 1 October 2026.
A notice end on Saturday
A resignation on 1 January 2026 with two calendar days starting the next day ends on Saturday, 3 January. Keeping the date returns 3 January; previous-working-day adjustment returns Friday, 2 January; next-working-day adjustment returns Monday, 5 January.
Why the employer date may differ
- The employer may use a different notice-start convention.
- Approved leave, excluded holidays or a custom working week may change the counted duration.
- The contractual notice end and the operational final day may be recorded differently.
