How this calculation works
The notice end is the last date counted in the selected contractual duration. A last working day differs only when the counted end is non-working and you choose a rule that moves it to a previous or next working day.
Calculation methodology
The engine calculates an unadjusted end first. It then checks the selected workweek and excluded dates only for the optional end-date adjustment, keeping both dates visible in the result.
WorkExitPlan calculates from the rules you select. It does not guess your employer's notice policy.
Worked examples
Notice ends on a working day
Resign on 1 September 2026 with 30 calendar days starting the next day. The notice end and estimated last working day are both 1 October 2026 when no adjustment is selected.
Notice end and last day differ
Resign on 1 January 2026 with two calendar days starting the next day. The notice ends Saturday, 3 January. A previous-working-day rule makes Friday, 2 January the estimated last working day.
Why the employer date may differ
- Your employer may use notice end and last working day as the same term.
- A contract may keep a weekend notice end while HR records the operational final day separately.
- Excluded holidays or a different working week can change an adjusted final day.
