How this calculation works

Enter the resignation date and contractual notice duration, then choose when notice starts and whether it is counted in calendar or working days. Optional settings cover excluded dates, leave treatment, non-working end dates and a break between jobs.

Calculation methodology

The engine establishes the first counted notice day, counts the selected duration inclusively, applies only the leave and calendar rules you choose, and then reports the notice end, estimated last working day and earliest joining date.

WorkExitPlan calculates from the rules you select. It does not guess your employer's notice policy.

Worked examples

30 calendar days from a resignation

Resign on 1 September 2026 and choose next-day counting. Notice starts on 2 September, and day 30 is 1 October 2026.

A three-day break before the next job

If the estimated last working day is 11 January 2026, three clear break days make 15 January 2026 the earliest joining date.

Why the employer date may differ

  • Your contract may count the resignation date instead of the following day.
  • An employer may define weekends, holidays or leave differently from the settings entered.
  • Acceptance timing, notice waiver, pay in lieu or a later HR correction can change the recorded date.
